Hands-on Applications of Blockchain

Putting what we’ve learned together into practice helps us understand blockchain better and gives us useful tools for our futures.

Concept development and technical activity

Creating our own CBA-themed token

Members brainstormed CBA-themed meme coin names and launched $COLTS on Solana. Creating our own club token gave members a chance to put what we had learned into practice through a real-world blockchain project.

Hands-on workshop

Wallet setup workshop

We ran a wallet setup workshop so students could send, receive, and hold digital currency. Setting up a wallet gave members a practical tool and experience with blockchain technology. During the workshop, I sent members Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin (cbBTC), which increased in value after they received it. Members loved getting involved firsthand. They continue to use their wallets today.

Hands-on workshop

USDC and cbBTC workshop

We ran a hands-on workshop where members practiced receiving USDC, a digital currency designed to track the value of the U.S. dollar, in their wallets. An optional exercise introduced exchanging USDC for Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin (cbBTC), a token that represents Bitcoin. Students learned how to send and receive cryptocurrency on the blockchain, putting what we had discussed into real-world use.

Competitive trivia

After each core lesson, we played trivia, which members always loved. I brought candy and prizes to reward correct answers and encourage everyone to participate. Those meetings taught me how powerful incentives can be in keeping members engaged. I believe learning happens when we apply what we’ve learned, rather than just read through slides.
